SUS304 CNC Machining

SUS304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel, known for its excellent comprehensive properties. In the annealed state, it offers a tensile strength of 520–1035 MPa, a yield strength of ≥205 MPa, an elongation of ≥40%, and a hardness of ≤187 HB. It also features outstanding low-temperature impact toughness, maintaining good ductility and toughness even at extremely low temperatures (down to -196°C). The material itself is non-magnetic, but weak magnetism may appear after cold working, which can also significantly enhance its hardness and strength.

Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength (σb): 520–1035 MPa

Yield Strength (σ0.2): ≥205 MPa

Elongation (δ5): ≥40%

Hardness: ≤187 HB (Brinell Hardness)

Impact Toughness: Excellent performance at low temperatures (maintains ductility at -196°C)

Work Hardening: Cold working significantly increases strength (e.g., hardness can reach HRB 92 after cold rolling)

Physical Properties

Melting Point: 1398–1454°C

Thermal Conductivity: 16.3 W/(m·K) at 100°C

Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: 17.2 × 10⁻⁶ /°C (0–100°C)

Resistivity: 0.73 × 10⁻⁶ Ω·m at 20°C

Magnetism: Non-magnetic (annealed), may show weak magnetism after cold working

Applications

SUS304 is ideal for food equipment, chemical containers, medical instruments, building structures, and other applications requiring high corrosion resistance and toughness.
